2 years since GOD EXTENDED MY LIFE
On this day, 2 years ago, I was in a daze, travelling to and fro from various places... Seeking medical advice on what they should do with me. Finally, I was admitted to the hospital (KK Women & Children's hospital). I didn't really know what was happening to me until I was discharged from hospital. I remember having high fever of 39 to 40 degrees celsius consistently for 2 weeks, prior to hospitalisation and even a slight laughter was so painful. Imagine if I wasn't admitted to hospital in time, I would have been either dead by now or I would require a liver transplant and that means i'll have to be on steroids for the rest of my life. That would pretty much suck be a bummer. The time that I was on steroids was a nightmare. I found myself having moodswings and it made me have a "moon" face. Friends who didn't know about my hospitalization & steroid episode ask me for my secret to losing weight....
Then again, at that point, it was looking puffy (ugly), or losing your liver... I think I'll choose the former and live with looking puffy for that period of my life.
Looking back, I can only say that God was in control. I was so close to losing all that I had - All the things i took for granted. Go ahead, laugh at my picture of my "moon" face. I personally find my "moon" face pretty hilarious! :D Because of what God did for me, I now choose to live for Him!
Anyway, here's the testimony that I wrote 2 years ago. I hope it will encourage and inspire you.

"Since birth, I have had a
history of asthma and eczema. In April 2011, I started taking traditional
Chinese medicine hoping to find a cure for my skin condition. During my first
few weeks of treatment, I faithfully drank the bitter brew. There were signs
showing that my skin condition was improving. However, in May, I started
developing a fever. My parents thought that it was nothing serious as I always
experienced many episodes of fever that lasted no more than 7 days.
But, this episode of fever
was different. It was consistently high and it lasted more than 7 days. Into
the 10 days of my fever, I started developing red spots on my hands & legs.
Even a slight laughter could cause sharp pain to my abdomen. My parents were
worried & after seeking advice from my family doctor they admitted me into
the hospital. I remembered crying all the way from the family doctor’s clinic
to the hospital as it was my first time in my life being admitted to hospital
and I did not know what to expect. I was afraid as I heard many scary things
about the hospital from my dad. As soon as I was warded, the senior consultants
came to examine me and after much deliberation they called for the liver
specialist as my liver was enlarged and the enzymes were at a dangerously high level. My case was unique. I was down with DRESS
syndrome or in easier terms, an allergic reaction to Traditional Chinese
Medicine. My hospital stay was an enriching experience for me. Being the oldest
patient (Do note that I was staying in a childrens' hospital and most of the kids were pre-primary) in the ward, I made friends with the little kids around me. The 6 days in
the hospital changed my perspective of life. Through the interactions with the other patients of
different family backgrounds, I learnt to be more appreciative and open to
change.
Honestly, I did not know the
seriousness of my condition until I was discharged from the hospital. When the
liver specialist told me that if I had not been admitted in time, I would have
had to go through a liver transplant.
I really thank God for being
gracious by preserving & extending my life and by giving the doctors wisdom
to identify and treat my liver in the nick of time. I would like to end with
this verse, which brought great comfort to my family during my stay in the
hospital. We discovered this verse on the back cover of a prayer book given to
me before I was admitted into hospital.
Psalms 66:19
“Certainly God has heard me;
He has attended to the voice of my prayer.”
Coincidentally, I was warded
in ward 66, bed 19. "
Indeed, God has heard the prayers of my loved ones. I am alive today because of His grace & mercy towards me. All glory to God!

On a side note, I'm thankful to Dr. JonK, Dr. Gary & Dr. Steph. They kept me entertained during my stay in the hospital. They took turns drawing blood from me daily for the various blood tests and kept me entertained with their various antics. How can I ever forget my lovely liver specialist, Dr. Chu who kept the seriousness of my situation from me until I was discharged. In figurative language, my liver belongs to you, Dr. Chu! Most of all, THANK YOU GOD for healing & extending my life.
It must have been pretty memorable for my dad since i was warded on his special day...
Dad, if you're reading this, Love ya though you suggested the bitter TCM. You had good intentions. My body just rejected it.
God's love & blessings~
